It’s really a dog pack at Billy Bonze today.

A large group of canine customers needing care.

Shop owners say once the weather gets cold and wet, your canine grooming business really warms up.

“The weather plays an actual important part within our business, and whenever the elements are real bad, consumers are bringing their dogs in,” said Billy Bonze owner, Bill Mason.

Pet care is a $32 billion industry – with over 60 million pet dogs nationwide – and wet weather pushes up interest on nearly all dog groomer.

Fifteen to 20 percent more business at Billy Bonze from a cold, wet snap.

“[The cold weather] creates a massive difference,” Mason added. Meaning non-stop clipping and cleaning on dogs, small and big.

“It gets busier!” said Billy Bonze groomer, Aimee Trevino.

Today, the dogs are out from the dog house and inside with owners often during wintertime, and for that reason require more haircuts and hose-downs.

“The ones with all the cockleburs hanging off of ‘me then there’s more dirt than hair, said Trevino.

Shelby’s a lab-mix who’s been experiencing the mud today.

She’s a regular for the Pet Smart salon, where they have been busy for months.

“I figured it would decelerate after Christmas, and also the Year, but it surely has not whatsoever, not really. So the climate is definitely saying thanks to for you,” said Pet Smart groomer Stephanie West.

Industry analysts the dog grooming clients are still growing projected to raise 12 percent by 2010.

Wet weather amplifies this look, packing them in for a bath, brush and bark.
