It could possibly become very hot and noisy and dirty round here, especially in summer. And it’s quite intense. We have around 20 to 30 dogs here when using average day, as there are numerous lifting and bending and carrying and holding them still in the end do our work.”

She explained that some dogs were more trouble as opposed to others: “Collies hate having their feet wet, so that’s tricky. And terriers find it impossible to stay still, they’re difficult. And we sties never just like having a shower.” I said: “Oh, I do know, I do know.” And she said: “I’m discussing your pet.” So I said: “Oh, yeah, right.”

I asked Jen how she had the dog-grooming business and she said: “Well, I’ve been a dog-lover, and I’ve always enjoyed grooming dogs. I did before present Afghans in dog shows and, over the years, I learnt how you can make a puppy look well groomed and presentable.”

Jen even stood a handful of her prize Afghans wandering across the shop. Two beautiful dogs with long shiny hair and big brown eyes and stylish pointy snouts. They appeared to be Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt with a Hollywood movie premiere.

I spent the following 20 minutes from the shop. That’s about as much as I was able to take considering that the noise was driving me mad – there have been a number of small yappy dogs inside a kennel and, just as much as I adore small yappy dogs, sometimes I wish I could truthfully lock them in a room, force these to tune in to Michael Crawford sings Andrew Lloyd Webber and find out the amount of they love it. But although I wasn’t there long, Jen gave me a good idea of how the organization worked: “The customers drop off their dogs before 10 the next day,” she said. “Then they purchase their dogs after five on the day that.
