Mobile Dog Groomers

 

Many owners still drive pets locally into a shop or veterinarian office.

Mobile groomers reach client’s homes or workplaces and groom animals with their van or trailer while owners are busy inside.

“The process is more enjoyable for pets and owners,” said Hayley Lavelle, who owns Le Paw Spa operating out of Fort Lauderdale. “Pets have become individualized attention right in front of their home.”

Owners will pay the price for the additional attention. Although prices vary by company, the starting price for a dog under 15 pounds is about $55 for the basic groom. Pricing comes up from the dimensions of canine, and groomers which also offer cat services start around $75.

Suzanne Ackley from Fort Lauderdale provides a mobile dog groomers for over 2 years.

“The last time I took my cat towards vet be groomed, the groomer actually cut the kitten and she or he were forced to get stitches,” Ackley said. “It’s just smoother for just anybody having the groomer reach my property.”

Lavelle operates Le Paw Spa outside of a personalized Ford van that cost her $80,000. The van is a state-of-the-art grooming studio on wheels. The van features a motorized lift for larger dogs, metal bath with difficulties, outlets for blow dryers, room to get a flat screen TV which is air-con.

Kim Biannually, who owns Barks-n-Bubbles pet grooming in Fort Lauderdale, operates away from a $37,000 trailer she pulls behind her truck. Muriel Rip, who owns Vroom Groom in Fort Lauderdale a mobile dog groomers, paid $10,000 to get a mini-school bus painted bright pink, which she tailored as a pet grooming vehicle.

“Most groomers commence doing house calls (in pet owner’s homes) which is the simplest and cheapest strategy to begin a business,” said Gregg Doctor, who owns Merrifield School of Pet Grooming in Fort Lauderdale. “Then as soon as they develop a clientele, they purchase a van.”

The Merrifield School sees about 60 students graduate from its nine-month dog grooming course each term. Doctor said most of the graduates from your grooming school carry on to start mobile dog grooming businesses.

“Mobile Dog Groomers provide the advantage that they never pick a bad location,” Doctor said. “They do not have to concern you with regardless of if the major store in the mall may go out and in what way which could affect their business.”
